Neusoft Reach Leads the Release of ASF Vehicle Service Framework Technical Specification 2.0, Enabling a New Paradigm for On-Vehicle AI Development

Recently, the "ASF Vehicle Service Framework Technical Specification 2.0" was officially released under the organization of the China Automotive Basic Software Ecosystem Committee (AUTOSEMO) of the CAAM Software Subcommittee. Led by Neusoft Reach and jointly promoted by 35 OEMs, upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain and industry organizations, the specification provides a practical and implementable path for standardizing automotive software middleware. It also provides a critical reference architecture and practical foundation for the deep integration and innovative application of AI technologies in intelligent vehicle scenarios.

The automotive industry is shifting from isolated intelligence toward system-level intelligence driven by AI. As software architecture evolves toward data-driven and service-oriented paradigms, innovation demands and software complexity are growing exponentially. This leads to increased system complexity and development costs, raising higher expectations for development efficiency, platform reuse, and cross-domain collaboration. These challenges underscore the urgent need for a unified foundational capability to support software development and integration.

ASF (AUTOSEMO Service Framework) is developed to establish an open, compatible, and highly extensible vehicle-wide middleware system for the industry, aiming to lower the development threshold for complex systems, enhance development efficiency across the vehicle software stack, and strengthen ecosystem-level collaboration. Ultimately, it lays a solid foundation for the deep integration and scalable deployment of key technologies such as AI in intelligent vehicles.

Neusoft Reach Leads Joint Development,

Driving Breakthroughs in Industry Standardization

As the leading chair, Neusoft Reach led the entire process of the ASF technical specification development—including project initiation, research, coordination, revision, and drafting specification. Collaborating closely with major OEMs and Tier1 suppliers such as GAC, Dongfeng, FAW, FAW Jiefang, Geely, Leapmotor, NIO, XPENG, Foton, etc., the team jointly explored and refined the core definitions and technical roadmap of the vehicle service framework.

The ASF Vehicle Service Framework Technical Specification 2.0 is built upon a whole-vehicle development perspective, defining a middleware framework that supports application-layer integration and SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) expansion. It outlines Vehicle Basic Service, Vehicle Message Bus, Vehicle Data Processing Framework and Efficient development framework. These definitions provide a foundational runtime environment and native vehicle function interface for emerging intelligent applications, enabling seamless integration into existing vehicle architectures. ASF 2.0 supports the industry in accelerating intelligent innovation while improving development efficiency and reducing costs.

Building a Foundational Platform for AI Integration

to Support the Evolution of the Future Intelligent Vehicle Ecosystem

ASF Vehicle Service Framework Technical Specification 2.0 enables efficient integration and dynamic deployment of intelligent applications through unified service interfaces and a flexible, scalable, and efficient development framework. It facilitates seamless collaboration between on-vehicle AI capabilities and cloud computing, while natively supporting the Python programming language and Web service frameworks—greatly lowering the development threshold for AI applications. By offering open standard interfaces to the industry, the specification ensures smooth integration with IoT, AI technologies, and ecosystems including Android, thereby fostering cross-domain and cross-ecosystem innovation and collaboration.

Beyond meeting the current standardization needs of in-vehicle software architecture, the specification looks ahead to future trends in intelligent vehicles. It lays a sustainable technological foundation to support next-generation applications, including advanced assisted driving system, cabin-ADS cross domain integration, multimodal human-machine interaction, and multi-agent collaboration.

From Standardization to Implementation:

ASF Advances Toward Industrial Adoption

The ASF vehicle service framework has not only established a broad industry consensus at the standards level but is also rapidly progressing toward practical deployment in intelligent vehicle development. Centered around the ASF framework, ongoing collaborative discussions and standard validation have been carried out with leading OEMs and Tier1 suppliers—including GAC, GAC Honda, FAW Jiefang, BAIC, Mercedes-Benz, and Schaeffler—focusing on intelligent function development, software architecture design, and platform capability enhancement, facilitating the practical translation and value realization of ASF in typical automotive scenarios.

ASF has already been successfully implemented within GAC Xingling architecture, supporting the creation of a decoupled, cloud-integrated service-oriented software framework. Xingling architecture significantly improves software reuse and cross-domain coordination efficiency across the vehicle, leveraging high-performance computing to orchestrate big data, scenario-based customization, full-vehicle service enablement, and advanced assisted driving systems. ASF-powered applications have achieved mass production across multiple GAC vehicle brands, delivering a more personalized and intelligent mobility experience for end users.

The ongoing industrial adoption of the ASF technical specification is driving a shift in automotive software platforms toward greater standardization and platformization. It ensures system-level performance and safety while significantly reducing the cost of software development, integration, and testing. Ultimately, ASF is empowering OEMs to build a future-ready software capability system and accelerate the scaled deployment of intelligent innovations.
